Tales from Duncan Road

TAKING CARE OF BABY CHICKS IS A BIG RESPONSIBILITY.  WHEN I FIRST GOT MY CHICKS IT WAS VERY HARD TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING RIGHT. THERE ARE THREE MAIN THINGS THAT MUST BE DONE IN ORDER TO RAISE HEALTHY CHICKS THEY ARE:  MAKING SURE THEY ARE WARM, THAT THEY HAVE ENOUGH FEED AND WATER , AND YOU HAVE TO PLAY WITH THEM. FIRST YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE WARM. IF YHE CHICKS ARE NOT WARM ENOUGH THEY HAVE A CHANCE OF DYING. I PUT THEM INSIDE A BROODER AND I HAD A HEAT LAMP SO THAT I COULD TELL IF THEY WERE WARM OR COLD. THEY WOULD BE SPREAD APART IF IT WAS A GOOD TEMPERATURE, BUT THEY WOULD BE UNDER THE HEAT LAMP IF THEY WERE COLD.  SECOND, YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE PLENTY TO EAT. THEY WOULD PROBABLY FIND THINGS TO EAT ON THE GROUND BUT THE FEED AND WATER GIVE THE CHICKS ENERGY. ONCE THEY DIDN’T HAVE ENOUGH FOOD SO THEY STARTED PECKING EACH OTHER. FINALLY, YOU NEED TO PLAY WITH THEM. TO MAKE SURE YOUR CHICKS TRUST YOU,  YOU NEED TO PLAY WITH THEM SO THEY WILL GET USED TO YOU. HAVING CHICKS IS A BIG RESPONSIBILITY BUT I THINK IT IS FUN TOO. 

My Little Pony is the most beautiful pony ever. She is a mare with black and white spots and main. I love her very much and I know how to ride her. We are both the best of friends I wish I could ride her more though and let me travel around the yard in a canter and I will travel and discover new lands on her. Someday I will go to the garden on her. A horse is the best thing to imagine on. Her main will sway in the wind and me and her should be things from books. Like Misty of Chincoteague, I read that before I went into 4th grade. When riding a horse you can go anywhere you want in your mind. My Little pony is a great friend.

Monday April 6, my family and I went to the farmers co-op to pick up 26 baby chickens. They were the cutest things alive with their fuzzy feathers and little eyes. They would even go to sleep in your hand! When we took them home it was very different then it used to be. Every time when we were in the garage we would hear their little peeps and it was hard not going over there and seeing what they were doing.  One day we decided we would put some grasshoppers in there, and it was very fun to see them going everywhere. They even played with them. They all got very exited. No mater what anyone says I will always love my baby chicks. Forever and ever and ever and always even when I die and when I am dead I will always love my baby  chicks.                                                          All 26

Today I am telling about the story The Twenty One Balloons. It’s about a lad named William Waterman Sherman, he made a balloon and rode in across the seas and landed on a island. It was a very strange island that had many special inventions. It was a place that we would call paradise. There were very neat bays that you could swim in and were warm. What they wore was striped suits with diamonds on them and were very fine indeed. 

I would recommend this book for 5th-6th graders. It was also the winner of  the Newbery medal in 1948.

Last week I went to Washington D.C, I got to ride the metro which is an under ground train that takes you to far away places in record time ! When I first went under ground on the way to the metro I was scared. It was also very hot which made me feel strange. There had also been times were people had died by falling into the tracks ! I would wait still waiting for the metro to come when it came you had to wait for the door to open, and when it did you have to rush inside or you’d be squished between the doors so you have to go in quickly. After awhile I started liking it. I rode it t the zoo, and the mall.  

The zoo was very cool it had baby gorillas and a hippo too ! The mall too was great it was four stories high. It had the best starbucks too. Everything laid out perfect and neat it was great. I even got to see Macy’s which I have never seen before. 

It may have not been the best vacation ever but it was the best experience ever. Seeing my first glance at Washington D.C.

       I love to read the bible. There are many characters in the bible, but my favorite is Moses. Moses lived in Egypt in Pharaoh’s luxurious palace. He was raised as a prince.  He probably had a lot of rich foods to eat.  Imagine what it would of been like if you were Moses, brought up by who you thought were your family, but then you find out your real family is in slavery. He was brought up as a sinner and he even murdered but God used him for some very special work bringing the Israelites out of Egypt, into the promised land, and saved them from the Egyptians. Do you see how God saved them by a sinner ? Also because of God using him he got to know God better ? Don’t you see how God did everything for a reason? Doesn’t that help you to know that? Because in bad situations God will always help you and show you what to do ? Just ask him and he will always help when you need him.  That is why Moses is my favorite character in the Bible.

Hello, this is Mckenzie. I am sorry I could not put any pictures. I have not done this in awhile but today I am proving that my baby brother is the cutest in the world. (this is my homework) and so let the story begin.

                                                  My Baby Brother

               It is very fun having a baby brother. I think my baby brother, Landon is the cutest in the world. Here are three reasons why I think this: he is serious, his blue eyes stand out, and he is tiny.

            First, I think he is very serious. A serious baby always has an expression that will tell you    something. It is good to spend time with your baby and learn what they are trying to tell you, like when they cry they tell you that they are hungry.

          Second, he has bright blue eyes. Some people may not like blue eyes, but I love blue eyes.         Most babies have blue eyes, but I think God gave him blue eyes for a reason. When you look into his eyes you feel a sudden mixture of happiness and joy that you think that you can never be sad again.

            Finally, he is tiny. Every person that comes to see has a comment which is he is tiny. He really stands out in the stores because he is so tiny.

           There are many cute babies in the world, but there are none as cute as little William Landon Duncan.

 This is my cousin Theo. He stays at our house whenever he and his family is in town. He is the cutest little boy I have ever seen. Once when they were town  and all the family was there he was holding my hand and he said Kenzie we pray. We went upstairs and my other cousins and I watched him kneel down and say ” Dear Lord I pray” Just then my dad said that it was time to pray for the food. Theo will be three on Thanksgiving day

I went on a trip to Brevard.  I got wet.  We saw a rattlesnake and there was a big hike.  It took forever, but coming  back it took a short time.  I could tell that the rattlesnake lived in a tree near by.  It was going into this hole under the tree and I could tell it was its home.  We saw two snakes:  one was a rattler and the other we couldn’t tell.  The waterfall was like rain–it went down.  I got soooo wet, but I liked it. I went into the stream; it was fun.  There were some slippery rocks that I almost slipped on.  I like Brevard.  We stayed in this nice little cabin.  It was so snuggly–I got to sleep in a loft!  The end.
